The clinic is situated in an old medical establishment so the main corridor leading up to it gives visitors a sense of datedness. A key consideration in the design, therefore, is to introduce a contemporary style and to break away from the typical cold, sterile image associated with medical contexts. As such, the designer chose colours, forms and materials to complement the clinic’s organic ‘nest’ interior concept to highlight a healing and warm environ. In the reception and waiting area, wood panelling in its muted natural colour covers the walls and ceiling entirely, with a softer-toned parquet covering the floor. Decoration is at a minimum and so the visual interest is focused on the horizontal wood patterns.
