Addition & Alteration to Existing NCS Hub

The townhall-and-community plaza is anchored by a spiral staircase

In a departure from a staid industrial office setting, a learn-work-engage environment is introduced via a redesign that fosters connectivity with nature as well as workplace flexibility for users’ well-being.

One of the programmes, a townhall-and-community plaza, is ‘interiorised’ through the insertion of a canopy followed by a garden and koi pond, presenting a tranquil environment for the space. The plaza itself, characterised by a ceiling soaring as high as the three-storey structure, is anchored by a spiral staircase—a sculptural centrepiece completed with timber balustrade and metallic flair for contrast—to vertically connect shared spaces across all floors.

Timber, being sustainable and versatile, was utilised primarily as decorative finishes. The material choice created warm-toned columns; planters; fluted panels; and floor slab edges; alongside organic-shaped furnishings to complement the indoor greenery, all contributing towards a welcoming ambience.

A hot-desking station with lounge and pantry

Enhanced with warm lighting, the nature-inspired elements help set the stage for modular workspaces, with hot-desking stations, lounges and pantries interspersed throughout to optimise accessibility. From open-plan offices and smart meeting rooms to quiet zones, adding to the variety are an eye-catching ‘treehouse’ mezzanine deck with radially divided ceiling panels fitted with recessed projectors; and a 200-seater presentation centre that can be reconfigured into an auditorium or four smaller units for training workshops.
