Nestled within a landscaped 13.5-acre estate in Bangi, the centre is designed to promote social collaboration and elevate learning experiences of the company’s employees. The curved campus is an exploration of environmentally friendly architecture with low-carbon ideas, including natural ventilation, the integration with external landscape elements and incorporation of energy-saving design features.
The man-made lake weaves around the building and helps lower the ambient temperature
AN ENGINEERING FEAT
One of the engineering highlights of the project is the 4-acre man-made lake. It is set to imitate natural settings and lower the ambient temperature of the environment surrounding the centre. To create a man-made lake that looks as natural as possible, the project team has taken various factors into account, such as the lake’s form; simulation of water flow; filtration system; as well as the selection of plants and associated biodiversity aspects.
High-performance glazing is used on the extensive curved façade with large overhangs and external shading devices. They act as passive climate modifiers to allow more daylight and less heat into the building, hence reducing the use of artificial lighting and air-conditioning. The greenery on-site also helps lower the ambient temperature and heat island effect, contributing to the overall mechanical cooling load.
