The Hong Kong Housing Society Award (HKHS Award) aims to support talent development for the housing and elderly-care industries of Hong Kong by recognising students with excellent academic performance in related disciplines. Each awardee is granted a scholarship or bursary of HK$10,000. Since its inception in 2006, the award has benefitted more than 1,400 students with a total sponsorship of over HK$9.7 million.
The 18th HKHS Award presentation ceremony was held on 4 February 2023 to distribute scholarships and bursaries worth over HK$1 million in total to 103 students from higher education institutions.
Walter Chan, Chairman of HKHS, said, “Youth development is important to the future of Hong Kong. It is hoped that the HKHS Award will give impetus to the awardees to further equip themselves and unleash their potential so as to become the driving force behind Hong Kong’s sustainable development.”
To further engage the award recipients, HKHS established the HS Academy Alumni Club in 2019 to organise a wide spectrum of activities, ranging from professional development and career planning to well-being programmes and volunteer services, to broaden their horizons and cultivate their sense of responsibility to the community. —Construction+ Online
