Over 200 primary and secondary schools will be retrofitted with energy-efficient equipment over the span of five years, while the students will also get to learn more about the importance of environmental protection. This was made possible following the launch of Jockey Club Energy Saver in Schools Project by Business Environment Council (BEC) in March 2024, which includes the following:
- supporting educational programmes, with the focus on ‘green’ building concepts; and
- certifying participating campuses with BEAM Plus Existing Schools Version 2.0 (a rating tool designed by Hong Kong Green Building Council).
Funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the BEC-led project is co-organised by BEAM Society Limited and Hong Kong Green Building Council, together with support from Environment and Ecology Bureau, Development Bureau and Electrical and Mechanical Services Department.
