Located in ‘The City of Cats’, the seven-storey Lexus showroom is the first 3S centre in East Malaysia with two branded car showrooms side by side.
The key challenge of the project was to merge two showrooms into one building, yet maintaining each brand’s identity at the same time. To do so, the team applied a ‘semi-detached house approach’ and introduced distinctive colour schemes and façade to distinguish each brand.
To prevent traffic obstruction, the construction required careful planning and consideration. For easier access, an elevated driveway is designed to lead to the main entrance of the showroom on the first floor.
The design team solved this by allocating the 12 service bays at the ground floor, while the showroom, management office and stock yard were split into multiple floors above.
For Toyota, the brand’s primary colours—red, white and grey—were applied on the aluminium screen of the building’s façade. As for Lexus, a black aluminium cladding was used to add an air of elegance and to reflect Lexus’s premium brand position. — Construction+ Online
