The project redesigns recreational spaces in Block B of a clubhouse, run by the Foreign Domestic Worker Association for Social Support and Training (FAST), in order to optimise utilisation of the two-storey facility to enhance a sense of belonging for migrant domestic workers.
PROGRAMME-CENTRED REDESIGN
To begin with, existing spaces of the structure are divided into four linear segments. The segments are then extended to establish visual connections from the entrance, thus informing the different programmes offered within. These extruding forms are oriented towards the green field to connect users to nature. The one closest to the field is elongated, creating a spatial hierarchy to introduce a double-height chapel for a serene praying area.

Upon entry, the reception leads towards the courtyard via a clear circulation path to facilitate wayfinding for new visitors. Double volume space and platform seating at the courtyard present views of clubhouse activities happening at various levels. A secondary entrance for the café and two staircases within the courtyard help prevent overcrowding while the second level comprises multi-purpose, semi-enclosed areas for gathering and more.
