Kuala Lumpur, 24 February 2021 – The Malaysian Green Building Council (MGBC) will be delivering Green Building Index (GBI) online courses next month, with the following details:
- Course date: 12–14 March 2021
- Examination date: 10 April 2021
- Time: 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.
- Platform: Zoom
The three-day training is open to all and covers the entire aspects of the GBI certification process for buildings, including the procedures for tools and application. Completion of the full course will qualify participants to join the GBI facilitator examination that will be held on 10 April 2021.
Prerequisites that participants must fulfil in order to be a GBI facilitator are:
Registered as a professional member of Board of Architects, Board of Engineers or Board of Quantity Surveyors; or
Having a degree in architecture, engineering, quantity surveying, or other building related disciplines as
approved by the GBI Accreditation Panel; or
Having relevant working experience acceptable to the GBI Accreditation Panel of minimum 5 years; and
Successfully completed the GBI facilitator course.
MGBC’s vision is to make Green buildings and communities available to all Malaysians and is currently developing a net-zero carbon tool, targeted to be launched this year. MGBC aims to gear the country towards a more sustainable built environment in line with the World Green Building Council’s commitment for net-zero carbon emission. GBI is a fundamental step to achieve this target.
