The CleanTech Phase Two Block B (CT2B) is a four-storey multi-tenanted development for research and development (R&D) and prototyping of advanced manufacturing processes. The project was identified as one of the pilot projects of the Integrated Digital Delivery (IDD) approach introduced by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) in Singapore.
By adopting relevant digital tools, the CT2B project was completed on time and within budget, and met the desired quality based on the following key IDD factors.
COMMUNICATION BASED ON 3D MODELS
The use of 3D Building Information Modelling (BIM) helped to improve the communication process through 3D models to capture project requirements, develop design solutions and create efficient communication tools between stakeholders. Proper allocation of time and 3D modelling enabled consultants to build the project virtually during its early stages, allowing for early resolution of issues before site construction. In this project, this digital tool also helped to reduce the occurrence of unresolved problems during the construction stage and minimise the risks for design rectification during construction, which could have led to a rise in costs.
