Sunway Construction Bhd (SCB) won a contract for a highway project worth RM508 million from the National Highways Authority of India in Tamil Nadu (NHAI), via a consortium formed by its subsidiary Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd and RNS Infrastructure Ltd.
Announced on 26 March 2020, the project consists of developing a new road and widening the existing road to four lanes in Tamil Nadu. It will be operated under the hybrid annuity model (HAM) for a concession period of 15 years and a construction period of two years.
In addition, Sunway Construction also won a 15-year operation and maintenance contract worth RM4 million per year for the highway. The project is expected to commence in October 2020 and is expected to be completed within two years. A concession agreement for the project will be signed in May 2020.
