Kuala Lumpur, 12 April 2021 – Senior Minister of Works, YB Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah Haji Yusof, recently reviewed the progress of two projects in Sabah: Pan Borneo Highway Bongawan-Papar Work Packages (WP04) and the administration building block, multipurpose hall and auditorium at IPG Gaya Campus (Phase 2).
The Bongawan-Papar Work Package (WP04) is part of the 11 Pan Borneo Highway work packages. This project is now being implemented by Malaysian Public Works Department (JKR) Sabah as the supervising officer, following the termination of the project delivery partner on 22 September 2019.
The work package involves an upgrade of the existing road to JKR’s two-lane carriageway standard starting from Bongawan to Simpang Benoni, Papar, which is 22.6 kilometres in total. Overall, the construction progress status for the Sabah Pan Borneo Highway Project is 49 per cent as of March 2021.
To ensure the smooth implementation of the project, in the near future, the appointment of project management consultant, independent consultant engineer and information technology system consultant will also be finalised.
