Situated at the western end of the West Kowloon Cultural District, the project combines the design principles of Hong Kong’s contemporary urban culture, traditional Chinese visual arts culture and traditional Chinese spatial arrangements, as well as an intelligent combination of smart technologies and human touch for the best outcomes.
INNOVATION & TECHNOLOGY
The project comprehensively applies BIM technology at all stages, from architectural design to construction and operation, significantly improving accuracy and efficiency. In addition, the construction utilised the self-developed innovative construction site management platform C-SMART, through the Internet of Things (IoT) to Artificial Intelligence (AI), to gather all relevant information on the same platform, allowing the project team to grasp the situation of the entire construction site in real-time and make quick and accurate decisions.
About 110 potential problems was successfully solved by using crashing analysis based on 3D modelling to complete the production. The main contractor also adopted 3D structural software to produce a complete drawing set for each module (10 output sheets) in 10 hours. The production of CAD drawings took about one week, which was about five times faster than traditional methods, dramatically improving the drawing efficiency and accuracy. In addition, the detailed design production rate of the connection parts continuously increased and the installation speed and quality on-site was guaranteed.
