State Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Latiff Bandi said Johor plans to allocate more green spaces in south Johor, especially within Iskandar Malaysia.

There are plans to open two public parks in Iskandar Malaysia. One is a 135.16-hectare regional open space near Horizon Hills, and the other a 68.79-hectare linear park stretching from Kota Iskandar to Eco Botanics.

The committee aims to create a living environment that is conducive for people to enjoy a good quality of life, including green spaces for outdoor activities.

Abdul Latiff said that just like in the United States, where New Yorkers are proud of their world-famous Central Park, Johor also wants to have its own Central Park for its residents.

He pointed out that developers have to allocate 10 percent of the land area in their projects as a public park for occupants, as required by the state authorities.
