The government is fully funding the fees of two independent assessment tools under the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), the Safety and Health Assessment System in Construction (SHASSIC) and the Quality Assessment System in Construction (QLASSIC), for government projects.
The SHASSIC evaluates safety and health performances through document check, site inspections and personnel interviews. They are recommended to be conducted when a project’s physical progress has achieved between 25 percent and 75 per cent—where various types of trade works are being carried out. On the other hand, the QLASSIC measures workmanship quality, through a scoring system, of structural, architectural, mechanical and electrical (M&E), and external works.
For details, please refer to the CIDB’s website. —Construction+ Online
