BCI Interior Design Awards 2024: Tone X Texture

Colours and textures are the main DNA of interior design, significantly building character within a space. They play a crucial role in shaping the mood, visual appeal and functionality of an interior environment. As different colours evoke different feelings and moods, interior designers often use colour schemes to achieve specific effects and cater to the intended purpose of a space. Textures add tactile and visual interest to a space, providing depth and dimension, while also influencing how a space looks and feels.

BCI Interior Design Awards (IDA) 2024 calls for Interior Design Projects that showcase a masterful command over colour and texture, using them to give a relevant and creative statement to the space. The designs must also contribute to essential matters related to sustainability and provide a positive influence on users.

IDA 2024 is looking for interior design projects that showcase the relevance of colour and texture as a focal point. Entries in either category will be judged on their masterful use of colours and textures to enhance a space in order to achieve their desired design outcomes.

The best designs will be selected based on the following equally-weighted (25 per cent each) criteria as explained in the panels, corresponding to the task:

RELEVANCE
The extent to which the design effectively serves its intended purpose and sets the desired mood/ambience, leading to a positive psychological impact on its users.

AESTHETICS
The level of artistic excellence in the design tied to the imaginative and unique utilization of materials/objects within the space to bring the design concept to life.

INNOVATION
Incorporating inventive solutions enhances the design in alignment with the project’s requirements, encompassing a range of possibilities such as technological tools and novel methodologies.

SUSTAINABILITY
The measure of environmental consciousness within the design encompasses certified sustainable products, recyclable components, minimal maintenance requirements, and other related factors.
