RICS announces this year’s winners of RICS Awards Southeast Asia

Singapore 16 December 2020 – The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) announced this year’s winners of RICS Awards Southeast Asia in 14 categories. The annual awards recognise world-class achievements and demonstrate the upholding of the highest standards of professionalism and ethics by individuals and teams in land, real estate, construction and infrastructure.

More than 120 submissions were received from Southeast Asia earlier this year, which was a 60 per cent increase from the inaugural run in 2019. This year’s panel of esteemed judges consists of 13 senior market leaders in their industry sectors. The event ran differently this year as the results were released through a series of announcement videos virtually from 11 to 19 November 2020.

Chris Nicholl, RICS Market Director of Asia Pacific, said in his opening address, “The RICS Awards are part of our ongoing commitment to raise the profile of professionalism in the built environment. The awards aim to demonstrate the positive impact that chartered surveyors and industry professionals deliver to our everyday lives, how they contribute to the safety, well-being and financial security of individuals and the communities.”

Innovation Award is one of the highly contested categories this year to recognise teams engaged in developing innovative solutions. One of the winners, Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, demonstrates innovativeness in systems, processes, technologies and personnel integration to transform the management of healthcare facilities. Surbana Jurong, on the other hand, demonstrates innovativeness in leveraging digital technologies to elevate customer experience through their dedicated Digital Management Office (DMO).

This year’s Lifetime Achievement Award’ winner goes to Seah Choo Meng, Senior Advisor, GCEO’s Office, Group Head, Internal Audit and Chairman of Threesixty. His role was instrumental in the successful setting of CORENET e-submission system, the one-stop electronic submissions to Building and Construction Authority (BCA).

RICS Awards also recognise and promote the positive contribution of female professionals to the industry through the Women of the Built Environment Award. One of the winners, Rhonda Wong, CEO and Co-founder of Ohmyhome, said, “It is important to recognise the next generation of leaders and decision-makers from the built environment for their consistent contribution and significant achievements as it serves as an encouragement for them to continuously innovate and level up the quality of services.”
