Architecture & Engineering Recognised as Significant Partners by LTA

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) recognised outstanding organisations, companies and individuals of Singapore’s Land Transport Industry at its Land Transport Excellence Awards 2022 (LTEA) held on 28 March at the Singapore Expo.

Among them, the Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES) received the Best Collaboration Partner award in recognition of its commitment and contributions to strengthen the engineering core of the railway and transport sector. IES’s key initiatives include the launch of the Chartered Engineer Programme for the Railway and Transportation Engineering sector; and the Chartered Engineering Technologist and Technician Certification Scheme for the Land Transport sector. It also established the Railway and Transportation Technical Committee to promote capability development and strengthen networks within the local land transport community.

Dr Richard Kwok, IES President, was presented with the Friend of Land Transport award in honour of his outstanding and continuous contributions towards sustaining and improving the land transport system. Dr Kwok has also contributed to the developments of manpower, community and standards of the sector.

The Best Design Rail/Road Infrastructure – Project Partner accolade was awarded to the collaboration between Arup and Aedas as well as the team of T.Y.Lin International and Aedas. The former joined hands in the Woodlands Station project to integrate elements of daylight illumination, natural ventilation and energy saving into the station structure. The latter worked together in the Mandai Rail & Bus Depot, which includes an operation control centre, a depot control centre, administration buildings and other ancillary facilities for the safe functioning of the vehicle fleet and associated railway systems. A series of sustainable and architectural design strategies that complied with the BCA Green Mark standard were also included.

Other winners include Novaars International for the Most Innovative Solution award, DP Architecture and Arup for the Best Design Land Transport Integration award, and more. For the full list of awards and winners, please visit LTA website.
