Kuala Lumpur, 29 July 2021 – Phase 2 of the Construction Industry Vaccination (CIVac) programme will involve 55,000 construction workers—30,000 from Penang and 25,000 from Johor. Date of vaccination in both areas will start on 5 August and finish on 15 September 2021.
Meanwhile, registration for the CIVac programme was open in Pahang on 25 July 2021 for 20,000 construction workers, and in Sabah will be opened on 31 July 2021 for 20,000 construction workers.
CIVac Phase 1 has started since 1 July 2021 in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor with a total vaccination targets of 40,000 foreign and local construction workers. As of 20 July 2021, a total of 24,106 workers, which is 60.26 per cent of the total who have registered with the CIVac programme, have received the first dose of vaccine.
To meet the large demand, the Ministry of Works is applying additional vaccine provision from the COVID-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) for 300,000 construction workers. This includes additional vaccines for 65,000 workers construction in Kuala Lumpur and 30,000 in Selangor. The vaccine quota will continue to be increased based on the new demands in the construction industry. Construction Industry development Board (CIDB) will also provide a Mobile Vaccination Center (PPV) if needed.
