Lendlease receives Five Stars recognition for its commitment to Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) standards

Kuala Lumpur, 31 August 2020 – The Deputy Minister of Human Resources, Haji Awang bin Hashim, presented Lendlease Malaysia with a Five Stars certificate of recognition at the launch of the National Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Week 2020 at The Exchange TRX site.

The award is in recognition of Lendlease’s commitment to high OSH standards, and for leading the way in using the principle of prevention that sets out the minimum environment, health and safety standards designed to control risks associated with the construction industry, which can then be applied to the entire life cycle of the project. This honour also acknowledged Lendlease’s milestone of achieving 10 million safe working hours without any accident.

Celebrated annually in the second week of July, OSH Week focuses on raising awareness of current safety and health issues as well as building a workplace culture that emphasises occupational safety and health not only amongst workers, but also with employers and the general public as well.

Lendlease’s Managing Director and Head of Country, Malaysia, Stuart Mendel, said, “We are very honoured to be receiving this award and look towards increasing the awareness of safety. Lendlease is committed to operating in an incident- and injury-free environment by instilling a culture of care. We believe that each and every one of our workers on all Lendlease projects has the right to go home to their families safely.”

In his speech, Haji Awang bin Hashim stressed on the importance of all parties involved to adhere to the Occupational Safety and Health Construction Industry Management (OSHCIM) guidelines drawn by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health to ensure that everyone plays their part responsibly.
