CIDB’s list of certified building materials and products under the Fourth Schedule of Act 520

Kuala Lumpur, 9 August 2021 – Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB) has published the latest list of building materials and products certified under the Fourth Schedule of Act 520. It is aimed to inform and encourage the industry players to purchase and use building materials that have been validly certified.

The list consists of manufacturers and suppliers of materials, and construction products that have obtained a Certificate of Compliance Standard (PPS) in 2020. There are 90 types of building materials and products from 13 categories, such as iron and steel products, ready mixed concrete, cement, aluminium, ceramic tiles, insulation materials, sanitary wares and more.

This will serve as a primary source of reference and review for the construction industry players including consultants, project developers, government and private agencies, contractors, suppliers and manufacturers, and end-users. Pursuant to Act 520, any use of building materials that do not comply with the standard requirements of CIDB, upon conviction, will be fined of not less than RM10,000 and up to RM500,000.

“As one of the agencies entrusted to monitor and enforce building materials on the market, CIDB is responsible for ensuring safe and quality construction. The list of building materials will contribute towards accountability, integrity as well professionalism of the construction industry in Malaysia; and further improve the quality building materials used in the entire construction work,” said CIDB Chief Executive, Datuk Ir Ahmad ‘Asri Bin Abdul Hamid.
