Kuala Lumpur, 22 January 2021 – Referring to a report on forgery syndicates of immigration and Construction Industry and Development Board (CIDB) documents recently, CIDB Malaysia is reminding employers to ensure employee documents are valid.

The level of competence of unregistered construction workers to carry out construction work is questionable, and this may pose a risk to the safety and the project delivery. Employers are encouraged check the validity of employee documents through the construction personnel directory on the CIDB Local Information Management System (CIMS) website.

According to Act 520, all construction workers must be registered with CIDB for carrying out work on construction sites. Individuals found carrying out any work without a valid registration can be fined up to RM5,000. Contractors are also reminded to check documents and take a decisive course of action if construction workers are found with fake cards.
