Construction services as consultancy services in the construction sector are referred to and regulated in Act Number 2 of 2017. The regulation replaced Act Number 18 of 1999 because the latter had not been able to meet good governance, or to meet the dynamic development of construction services.
The purpose of this piece is to highlight the importance of competency certification for experts and professionals in the field of construction services. But first, we must discuss the process of implementing the certification, since this is expected to create a skilled and qualified workforce that is competent and reliable.
Act Number 2 of 2017 in article 70 paragraph 1 states that “Every worker who works in the field of construction services must have a work competency certificate. Every service user and/or service provider is required to employ construction workers who have a Work Competency Certificate (Sertifikat Kompetensi Kerja or SKK). The SKK is obtained through a competency test in accordance with the National Work Competency Standards of Indonesia (Standar Kompetensi Kerja Nasional Indonesia or SKKNI) or the established Competency Standards”.

Born in Jakarta, he took the STIE Pancasetia education in Banjarmasin, Kalimantan, after completing his education at the Company Management Academy (Akademi Pimpinan Perusahaan). He had worked at Bank Pembangunan Indonesia (Persero) and Bank Danamon Indonesia until 2008, after which he was active in the National Association of Consulting Professionals Indonesia (Ikatan Nasional Tenaga Ahli Konsultan Indonesia or INTAKINDO) between 2009 and 2012. He has been working at the LPJK Nasional since 2012 until now.
