INTERIORS

The Regalia

This apartment is owned by a recently retired couple who wanted to renovate their existing home for the preparation of their new life.

The designers created a living space with few boundaries. Most of the interior walls were removed and the layout was reconstructed. As the owners are the only family members living at this apartment, three small rooms were combined into a large master suite, together with a master bathroom and walk-in closet. In order to create an open living area, a partial wall was kept between the walk-in closet and the sleeping areas. The glass partitions that provide a see-through effect for the suite were built in front of the master bathroom.

White colour was used for the walls and lighting effect to modify the feelings of ceiling height. A featured brown wood veneer wall panel was built irregularly behind the sofa and further enhanced the visual extension effect for the wall.

Another prominent feature was the high marble television floor cabinet, which provides a focus point for the whole area. The cabinet helps to separate the comfort zone and the living area, while still closely connecting each area. As the owners wanted to have a closed kitchen, glass partition and glass door were installed at the entrance of the kitchen in order to maintain openness. The dining and living areas are relatively close and there is not much separation between the two zones. The Tom Dixon pendant was used for the dining area as a drawing point to make it stand out from the living areas.
