The First Batch of Light Public Housing Projects to Complete by 2026

The Chief Executive has called for the completion of approximately 30,000 Light Public Housing (LPH) units by 2027–2028 in the 2023 Policy Address, in efforts to alleviate the short-term public housing supply gap and accommodate those living in inadequate housing, among other aims.

To this end, the first batch of LPH—comprising four projects sited at Yau Pok Road in Yuen Long; Tuen Mun Area 3A; Choi Hing Road in Ngau Tau Kok; and Olympic Avenue in Kai Tak respectively—has commenced construction to supply about 17,000 units, together with public transport facilities.

The Yau Pok Road project, being the first such housing to be developed, will constitute around 2,100 units. Following a groundbreaking ceremony held on 19 February 2024, its intake is projected to begin in the first quarter of 2025. The other three projects in the batch are set to complete in phases from the second quarter of 2025 to the third quarter of 2026.

Meanwhile, preparatory work for the second batch of LPH is in progress to add on about 13,000 units. —Construction+ Online
