NAMI Showcase

Date: 6 June 2017
Companies: Nano and Advanced Materials Institute Ltd (NAMI) and Hong Kong Construction Materials Association (HKCMA)

On 6 June 2017, the Hong Kong Construction Materials Association (HKCMA) and fellow members were invited by the Nano and Advanced Materials Institute Ltd (NAMI) to attend the first-ever NAMI Showcase event at Atrium Link of Hong Kong Science Park. Its primary objective was to showcase the latest innovative technologies for enhancing construction productivity through advanced materials.

NAMI technical experts presented related technologies that can help to improve productivity, cost and energy efficiency of construction works in Hong Kong. The presentation was highlighted with an open discussion on the market needs and required support from the applied research and development (R&D) centre.

NAMI’s award-winning technologies were showcased at the event. These exhibits encompassed more than 25 new technologies, which can be applied in the areas such as construction, environment and energy, some of which had received the Geneva awards in April. The guided tour covered NAMI’s new Construction and Building Materials Laboratory, which is a first-of-its-kind smart materials lab in Hong Kong. The newly established facilities span over 500 square metres of laboratory space, equipped with over HKD10 million worth of state-of-the-art infrastructure and equipment for innovative construction materials R&D.

NAMI operations are carried out through government funding and incentive for industry collaboration. For the challenging times lying ahead, HKCMA will continue exploring ample opportunities for collaboration with NAMI on advanced innovative materials research initiatives.
