M+ Museum Project Completed and Open to Public

Hong Kong, 19 November 2021 — M+, Asia’s first global museum of contemporary visual culture in the West Kowloon Cultural District of Hong Kong, opens to the public on 11 November 2021 with three weekends of celebratory programmes for everyone to enjoy.

To celebrate the opening of the museum, M+ is staging opening programmes for the public across three Fridays and weekends, featuring bus tours, making workshops, sensory experiences, live performances, screenings, and digital engagement.

Spread across 33 galleries, M+’s opening displays feature around 1,500 works from M+’s pre-eminent collections of visual art, design and architecture, and moving image from Hong Kong, Greater China, Asia, and beyond.

With construction commenced in 2015, the M+ building has encountered various challenges. With the grand opening of M+, Hong Kong’s new museum for visual arts and culture, not only will the West Kowloon Cultural District welcome a key new member, but Hong Kong will be on par with cities like London and New York with a sizeable and significant contemporary art museum.

“I am sure the podium of M+, which houses a public roof garden against the backdrop of the stunning cityscape and skyline of Hong Kong, as well as the striking media façade, will become yet another must-visit attraction for both local and overseas visitors,” said Mrs Carrie Lam, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

“I sincerely welcome visitors from all over the world to come to Hong Kong once COVID-19 is under control and visit the M+ museum to immerse themselves in the extraordinary cultural experience that embraces the best of both the East and the West.” — Construction+ Online
