HKILA 28th Annual Dinner 2016

Date: 18 November 2016
Company Name: Hong Kong Institute Of Landscape Architects

The Hong Kong Institute Of Landscape Architects (HKILA) held their annual dinner on 18 November 2016, themed Landscape Shapes.

Carrie Lam, GBM, GBS, JP, former chief secretary for the administration of the Hong Kong SAR government, was the guest of honour. She also handed out awards to the winners of the HKILA Landscape Awards during the dinner. The biannual awards were held to recognise and celebrate landscape architects for their outstanding work in Hong Kong.

Lam has been an honorary member and long-time partner of the HKILA since she assumed the position of secretary for development in 2007. In his speech at the event, HKILA’s president Tak Wong expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by Lam in advancing and raising the professional status of landscape architecture in the government, by establishing the first—and thus far, the only—directorate post for landscape architects in the Hong Kong Development Bureau.

The event was an opportunity for social gathering and exchange of viewpoints among the guests and members. There was a presentation of a report on a review carried out on the HKILA Admission and Accreditation Policy, as well as the comments and feedback from a consultation meeting with members on the report conducted earlier in the year.
