Silverlakes Outlet Mall

As the first premium shopping outlet in the northern Peninsular Malaysia, the Silverlakes Outlet Mall will create personal and curated spaces, and adopt the concept of Modern Eclectic—a concept that reshuffles the rule book to mix and match opposite elements together, such as old and new, east and west, luxe and humble, showy and quiet.

The design approach is to complement the existing natural surroundings, which include a secluded lake, flatlands and rainforest. One of the challenges is to take the large existing trees on the site into consideration. Another site constraint is the large lake that was once a mining pool. The solution is to transform the waterfront into a key attraction, giving the mall a distinctive characteristic.

Lightweight blocks, brick walls and red brick veneer will be used for the cladding of this project. The idea for the face brick walls of the building originated from the historical Kellie’s Castle, which is located near the proposed site. The red brick veneer will provide a warm feeling to its surroundings.

The mall comprises 27 blocks with 146 retail lots, an expansive food court, 20 bazaar-type retail units, kiosks and pop-up booths. There will also be a connecting road to the Batu Gajah railway station.
