More than 800 international engineers from around the world have gathered to exchange knowledge, expertise and ideas in using and managing of technologies to build greater sustainability, liveability, economic security and climate resilience for cities.

Conference highlights included tracks on climate change: mitigation and adaptation; connectivity and mobility; sustainable energy; Industry 4.0 and beyond; water and sustainable environment; and smart infrastructure.

Additonally, there was an inaugural track on building sustainable cities in Asia, organised jointly by IES and Institution of Professional Engineers, Japan (IPEJ).

His Excellency, Jun Yamazaki, Ambassador of Japan to Singapore, also gave a speech as a guest speaker at the opening ceremony.

At a conference dinner on 29 August, winners of the IES Prestigious Engineering Achievement Awards 2019 received their awards from Dr Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources and Ministry of Health.
