Surbana Jurong equips staff in digital constructions skills

Surbana Jurong has partnered with the Building Construction And Timber Industries Employees’ Union (BATU) to train 630 of its employees in digital construction skills, in line with the key focus areas set out in the Building & Construction Authority’s Construction Industry Transformation Map.

Surbana Jurong Group CEO Wong Heang Fine says the firm aims to improve its services to its clients by implementing the latest technologies to meet the “increasingly complex challenges in urban and infrastructure developments”.

“Since early on, we have decided on a people-centric approach in our adoption of digital technologies by placing emphasis on inculcating in our workforce a culture of innovation,” Wong said.

Employees will be trained and equipped with advanced industry-specific technology skills in areas such as design, construction and site inspection.

The new initiative will ensure that site supervisors will have the technical skill to use the Audiance tool for site data collection and inspections and all relevant staff to be trained in advanced 3D building information modelling (BIM) and drones. A mentorship programme will also help ensure future employees are similarly equipped. — Construction+ Online
