Civil contract awarded to construct two stations on the Jurong Region Line

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded a Chinese firm, China Railway 11 Bureau, a civil contract worth $210.1 million to start the construction of two stations on the Jurong Region Line (JRL).

The awarded contracts are for Jurong West and Bahar Junction stations. Construction is expected to start in 2020 and slated for completion in 2026.

The work covers the design and construction of the two stations, and 1.15-kilometer of viaducts.

Jurong West Station is located at Jurong West Avenue 2 and adjacent to Jurong West Street 23. The station will feature a single island platform serving trains for the Choa Chu Kang-bound and Jurong Pier.

Bahar Junction Station will feature two platforms connected by a 100-metre covered bridge with travellators. One platform will serve trains heading to Choa Chu Kang and Jurong Pier while the other one will serve trains heading to Peng Kang Hill.

In September, two civil contracts were awarded to construct five stations on the Jurong Region Line.
