PAM delighted with Malaysia Government’s effort following the Budget 2020 announcement

Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) welcomes Malaysia Government’s effort following the 2020 budget announcement on 11 October 2019. The announcement includes initiatives such as, Housing, Development Projects, Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), Digital Infrastructure and Gender Equity, which PAM have highlighted and commended in a statement.

PAM look forward to the many new or revived developments projects such as rail transportation project (ECRL), Bandar Malaysia township, upgrading of airports, Carey Island development to make Port Klang maritime centre and cargo logistics hub, new sports facilities, and etc.
“We hope the procurement of these important national projects will be through an open design competitions process that PAM can help facilitate, to open up opportunities for our many smaller and larger architect Malaysian firms to further upskill and build capacity. With the downturn of the past few years, many architect firms are facing challenges to retain staff and to enhance wages – this will help stem the continuing loss of talent to overseas.” Said Lilian Tay, President of PAM.

She added that a majority of the new projects are valuable opportunities to create new national icons to showcase and promote Malaysian talent and design professionals.

PAM also applauds the Government initiative to improve the digital infrastructure of the country. Lilian and PAM hope that some allocation will go towards helping Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) and PAM to develop the Integrated Digital Delivery (IDD) platform for the construction industry, which will help the construction industry in preparing for the Industrial Revolution 4.0 , IR 4.0. – Construction + Online
