Hotel to spur Sabah’s economy

An upcoming boutique hotel in Kota Kinabalu is expected to drive the local economy and provide jobs and business opportunities for Sabahans.

When it begins operations in 2021, the new Hyatt Centric hotel will also attract visitors and further enhance the state’s tourism industry capabilities, especially lodging for local and foreign travellers, said Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apd at the hotel’s ground-breaking ceremony on 5 May 2019, as reported by EdgeProp.

The RM270 million project will be the first Hyatt Centric in Malaysia and also marks the maiden foray into the hospitality business by Hap Seng Consolidated Bhd, in partnership with the Hyatt Group.

The 22-storey hotel will have 220 rooms and feature an all-day lounge and restaurant, more than 1,900 square feet of meeting space, a fitness centre, and a rooftop swimming pool and a bar with views of the South China Sea. — Construction+ Online
