Honeywell Building Solutions Inc, part of Honeywell Home and Building Technologies, has been awarded a US$14 million (RM54.6 million) contract to supply smart technologies for Permodalan Nasional Bhd’s 118 (PNB118) Tower, the Malaysian Reserve reports.
The deal is for the deployment of security and building management systems for the upcoming multi-year project.
“We are excited by the opportunity to support PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd on this mega project,” Honeywell Asean president Briand Greer said in a statement yesterday.
“In Asia, we are committed to bringing together knowledge, people and technology that turn buildings into smarter and productive assets,” he said.
The company’s soon-to-be fully integrated solutions for the iconic development is expected to play a critical role in ensuring comfort, safety and security of the 118-storey building—set to be Malaysia’s tallest building and the fifth-tallest in the world upon completion in 2021.
The iconic mixed-used tower located within the Warisan Merdeka development is owned by PNB Merdeka Ventures, a wholly owned subsidiary of PNB, with Turner International Sdn Bhd as the project manager.
The development has an estimated gross development value of RM6 billion. The major construction contract for the project was awarded to a joint venture between UEM Group Bhd and South Korea’s Samsung Construction and Trading Corp in 2016. — Construction+ Online
