Johnson Controls maximises value of entire buildings portfolio with Metasys 10.0

Johnson Controls has released its Metasys 10.0, a building automation system to deliver unified building management. It provides facility personnel with smarter building automation, faster responses to critical alarms and new integrations with fire detection, security and lighting systems from a single common interface.

This marks another milestone as Johnson Controls brings the power of its combined portfolio to the market following a series of mergers and acquisitions in the buildings space. The strength of the combined portfolio includes solutions from Tyco (merger in 2016) and York (sole owner of York (Malaysia) in 2014).

“Johnson Controls has been steadily growing as a systems integrator for smarter buildings and cities in Malaysia—York with its air-conditioning technology, Tyco with its security and fire solutions,” said Fam Wee Chean, general manager, Building Technologies & Solutions, Johnson Controls Malaysia.

“With such comprehensive breadth as a systems integrator, we deeply appreciate how important it is to provide access to critical system data from a single, intuitively-designed interface.”

While Metasys has always delivered a strong integrations platform, its newest release makes it even easier for customers to integrate both HVAC and non-HVAC systems.

Some of its other key features include:
• A new Metasys application programming interface (API), which enables data to be securely extracted and integrated with third-party data visualisation tools for analysis and reporting;
• Simpler integration with the SIMPLEX® fire system, which is enhanced to include a BACnet®/IP integration with the Metasys system to automate building conditions when triggered by a fire event;
• New integrations with C·CURE 9000 Access Control and victor Video Management Systems from Tyco Security Products; and
• Simpler integrations with lighting systems, including LED lighting and sensor networks, to coordinate lighting behaviours with HVAC operation.

Another innovation is the Ethernet ring topology support, which is only offered by Metasys. Delivered as part of Johnson Controls’ strategic alliance with Cisco, it allows controllers to be configured in a ring network, avoiding risk of single point of failure, thus improving system reliability and resiliency.

Johnson Controls’ solutions and products are installed in more than 35 per cent of commercial buildings in Malaysia, including those requiring the most complex integrations such as hospitals and data centres.
