Located on the seventh floor of a shopping centre in the heart of Guangzhou, China, the Race Steak House, designed by C.DD, aims to be a ‘small town’ where diners can hide from the chaos of the city and eat well in the company of friends.
The smell of sizzling steak greets those who enter this modern take of a rustic American steakhouse. The space has been partitioned into a small house with various sized ‘courtyards’, each furnished in different styles with different materials, so diners can find their favourite corner to enjoy their meal.
The arc-shaped door and window openings add a distinguishing character to the small house, with the use of wood, bricks and concrete for a simple homey feel that does not detract attention from the main food offering.
Plants on the tables and hanging from the ceilings accentuate the relaxed dimension, while a vertical garden lends vitality to the space. The use of terraces and plants brings the outdoors inside, and the lighting is designed to provide the feeling of sitting in the sunshine, even at night.
