New Technologies Discussed at Building Surveyors Conference

The Building Surveyors Conference 2016, organised by The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors Building Surveying Division (HKIS BSD), was held on 15 October 2016 at Harbour Grand Hong Kong. Nearly 300 building surveyors attended the conference, and industry experts and academics gave out presentations and shared innovative ideas on various technological applications in building surveying.

Paul Chan Mo-po, GBS, MH, JP, Secretary for Development, was the guest of honour. “This annual conference is a valuable opportunity for eminent industry experts and academics to exchange their experiences with regard to the latest technological applications,” said Chan. “It plays a pivotal role in developing Hong Kong into a metropolis with a smart, Green and enjoyable living environment.”

Sr Lau Chun-kong, president of the HKIS said, “Building surveyors are committed to seeking innovative ideas and implementing the latest technologies and approaches to enhance their productivity and the quality of work.”

Various topics including unmanned aerial vehicle and building information modelling were discussed in the conference. Participants were able to gain insights on the latest technology and development in building surveying.
