Spanning the Chishui River gorge in southwest China, Jimingsansheng Bridge is set to open by end-2019, This mega bridge will connect Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan, cutting a two-and-a-half-hour drive to just one minute.

Construction on this 59 million Yuan (USD8.6 million) infrastructure investment began since July 2016.

This two-lane bridge stretches 1,041 metres, with long approaches of 638 metres on the Sichuan side and 141 metres on the Yunnan side. Its width is 11.5 metres, with 1.25-metre-wide sidewalks on both sides.

The concrete arch structure was joined on 7 July 2019, with the distance from the highest point of the bridge to the river at 159 metres, equivalent to the height of a 50-storey building. Builders overcame difficulties posed by rough terrain and the rugged limestone cliffs flanking it,

When opened, Jimingsansheng Bridge is expected to play an important role in alleviating poverty in the local area. Construction+ Online
