Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Passenger Clearance Building

External view

The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge links the “9 plus 2” cities of the Greater Bay Area into one vast 67 million population megapolis and the Passenger Clearance Building is the gateway from the bridge and the West Bay Area to Hong Kong. This building is, therefore, an essential and iconic gateway to Hong Kong.

Hong Kong is a place of water, mountain and forest and these powerful visual symbols of Hong Kong have incorporated into the design. Hong Kong is a world city with a sophisticated, high-quality urban life reflected through the precision of its buildings, orderliness, and gentleness of spirit. The spirit and mood of the building is gentle, flowing and sophisticated to reflect the city.

Water, mountains, and forest characterise Hong Kong, and the design incorporated these symbols of Hong Kong. Four 200-meter-long water pools separate the arrival hall, immigration hall, customs hall and departure hall and lead the traveller effortlessly through the procedures while also poetically symbolising the waters of Hong Kong. The roof undulations and tree-like structure reflect both the waters and the forests of Hong Kong. Being under this roof is like being under the tree canopy of a forest.
