The Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) officially launched its Retro-commissioning (RCx) Training and Registration Scheme on 27 November 2019. It is designed to elevate the skill levels of RCx professionals, in line with the HKSAR Government’s active promotion of RCx as a cost-effective means of enhancing the energy efficiency of existing buildings.
RCx is a systematic examination of a building’s energy performance to identify areas of optimisation for reducing energy costs and improving the indoor environment. Specialised training and professional development are critical for increasing the supply of RCx professionals to support extensive implementation of RCx in existing buildings. HKGBC’s RCx Training and Registration Scheme will contribute to developing a higher number of RCx professionals and enhancing the well-being of the community.
Abiding by the principle of preparing “designated workers for designated skills”, HKGBC’s RCx Training and Registration Scheme offers individual courses with specific focuses for different tiers of practitioners taught by HKGBC experts, including RCx Practitioner (Level 1), RCx Practitioner (Level 2), and RCx Professional.
“We are very keen to see existing buildings become greener and more environmentally friendly. By introducing the RCx Training and Registration Scheme, we are taking the lead to enhance RCx standards, as well as encourage the industry to adopt RCx as a primary energy conservation solution for existing buildings,” said Mr Cheung Hau-wai, SBS, Chairman of HKGBC, reinforcing the spirit of the scheme.
