HK Architecture Exhibition “Island__Peninsula” to be held in Los Angeles

The Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA) and Create Hong Kong (CreateHK) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (lead sponsor), and fully supported by Chinachem Group, will bring Hong Kong architecture to Los Angeles.

The preview will be held on 19 September 2019 followed by the exhibition on the next day, from 20 September to 2 October 2019.

The 14-day public exhibition aims to bring the unique Hong Kong architecture to Los Angeles, comparing the contrasting city fabrics of Hong Kong and Los Angeles, and to dissect the four core values that underline Hong Kong-style architecture: glamour; efficiency; orderliness; and constant change.

“Architectures should be boundless, transcending beyond something greater than the uniqueness of Hong Kong culture and cityscape,” said Donald Choi, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, Chinachem Group.

Many exhibits will highlight Hong Kong’s community facilities, homes, streetscape, and traditional architectural craft. There is also an interactive display linking the urban forms of Hong Kong and Los Angeles to connect the two areas and expand the boundaries. The multi-angle interpretation of the exhibition integrates architectural ideas, culture and technology to showcase data visualisation, comparison between the two sides of the Pacific Ocean, and real-time pictures of local urban landscapes. — Construction+ Online
