The Construction Industry Council (CIC) announces that the second round of the Construction Industry “Anti-epidemic Fund” will be available for application from construction-related enterprises through a designated online application platform starting from 22 May 2020 and the application period will end on 31 August 2020.

The Fund was initiated by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the second round of measures are to cover those construction-related enterprises (subsidy aligned to HKD20,000) that were not benefited from the first round. Applicants from eligible enterprises have to submit applications through the online platform, fill in information and upload all required documents, including Business Registration Certificate and bank account information and proof with the same enterprise name. After receiving and verifying all the information, the CIC will directly deposit the subsidy into the enterprise’s bank account through auto-payment within four weeks.

In addition, Development Bureau had already sent notification letters individually to eligible consultant firms on 27 April 2020 to call for application of the training subsidy of HKD50,000.

Application for the second round subsidy of HKD7,500 for construction workers has already been available since 18 May 2020. As of today, near 210,000 registered construction workers who received the first round subsidy (HKD1,500) have also received the second round subsidy (HKD7,500) via the same bank account that they submitted. Meanwhile, the CIC has also received applications from over 190,000 workers as on 21 May 2020. Approval process is now being carried out and the CIC aims to disburse the subsidy to workers as soon as possible.
