CIC recognises BIM training courses and managers

The Construction Industry Council (CIC) held its BIM Certification and Accreditation Schemes certificate presentation ceremony on 1 August 2019.

CIC Executive Director Ir Albert Cheng and Director of Industry Development Ir Dr Richard Pang presented certificates to representatives of the first two CIC-Accredited BIM Manager Courses and the second batch of CIC-Certified BIM Managers.

Speaking at the ceremony, Cheng spoke about the importance of a wider adoption of BIM in Hong Kong and for CIC-Certified BIM managers to maintain high quality and professional standards in BIM application.

Launched earlier this year, CIC BIM Certification and Accreditation Schemes help to ascertain the competency of BIM practitioners and the quality of local BIM training programmes.

The accreditation scheme for BIM training courses is targeted at course providers who are offering or are going to offer BIM manager courses and aims to ensure the scope and quality of the courses meet the industry’s needs.

The first two CIC-accredited BIM Manager Courses is one that is co-organised by BSI Pacific Ltd and the Department of Real Estate and Construction, Faculty of Architecture, The University of Hong Kong, and one organised by the Hong Kong Institute of Construction.

The certification scheme for BIM personnel is for applicants who wish to be CIC-certified BIM managers. Since the launch of the scheme, 78 BIM Managers have successfully certified by CIC. Construction+ Online
