BCI Asia named Hong Kong’s Top 10 most active architecture firms and property developers to receive the BCI Asia Top 10 Awards 2017 on 16 June 2017 at the InterContinental Hong Kong.

The winners are architecture and property developer firms with the greatest aggregate value of projects under construction during the last full calendar year, weighted by the extent of their sustainability efforts. For architecture firms, pre-tender projects were included to recognise early incorporation of Green design efforts.

The portfolios of these elite architecture firms contain USD16.6 billion worth of properties scheduled to start construction in Hong Kong this year, while the portfolios of the top developers are worth USD7.09 billion.

BCI Asia Top 10 Architects for 2017 are AGC Design Ltd, Andrew Lee King Fun & Associates Architects Ltd, DLN, hpa (Ho & Partners Architects Engineers & Development Consultants Ltd), Hsin Yieh Architects & Engineers Ltd, Leigh & Orange Ltd, P&T Architects and Engineers Ltd, Ronald Lu & Partners, Wong & Ouyang (HK) Ltd, and Wong Tung & Partners Ltd.

BCI Asia Top 10 Developers for 2017 include Billion Development & Project Management Ltd, Cheung Kong Property Holdings Ltd, Chinachem Group, Henderson Land Development Co Ltd, K&K Property Holdings Ltd, K. Wah International Holdings Ltd, Nan Fung Development Ltd, Sun Hung Kai Properties Ltd, Swire Properties Ltd, and Wheelock Properties (Hong Kong) Ltd.

Hong Kong’s BCI Asia Awards were presented by Advboom Media International Ltd, Alliance Construction Materials Ltd, ASSA ABLOY Hong Kong Ltd, Eco-Green Group Ltd, Fosroc Hong Kong Ltd, Genesis Development Ltd, Glory Top Building Materials Ltd, Greentins Technology Ltd, Hilti (Hong Kong) Ltd, Kohler Asia Pacific Ltd, Kwan Tai Engineering Co Ltd, Kwong Man Kee Engineering Ltd, Play Concept Ltd, and United Power Engineering & Construction Ltd.

The annual event—now in its 13th year—is held in Hong Kong SAR, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, to recognise developers and architecture firms building and designing the greatest volume of buildings in these seven regional markets, and to encourage the creation of socially responsible architecture.

The evening began with a cocktail reception, followed by a dinner. Chairman of BCI Asia Dr Matthias Krups gave a welcome address, followed by two keynote speeches by Ada Fung, Deputy Director (Development and Construction) of the Hong Kong Housing Authority, and Phyllis Li, Deputy Director of Planning/Territorial, Planning Department.

Apart from the Top 10 Awards, the FuturArc Prize 2017 (Student Category) merit award was presented to Chan Yuk Chun Jon and Lau Cheuk Hin Lincoln from Hong Kong. The FuturArc Prize, Asia’s foremost Green building design competition, is awarded to residential and commercial developments in Asia designed to ‘envisage an architecture for the common good’.
