Hong Kong, 18 May 2020 — The Construction Industry Council (CIC) announced that the second round of the Anti-epidemic Fund is now open from 18 May to 31 Aug 2020 for construction workers.
The fund, set up by the HKSAR government, is committed to support the construction industry by improving anti-contagion measures at construction sites and strengthening workers’ personal protective equipment.
“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the livelihoods of frontline construction workers have been affected. This time, the government is providing an additional HKD4.3 billion to the construction industry. CIC has been proactive in the second round of the Anti-epidemic Fund by consolidating the data of 500,000 registered construction workers in a very short period; hastening the update of the Safety App mobile application for construction workers; as well as developing an online platform for enquiries. We make every effort to speed up the disbursement of the subsidy to the industry, and address their pressing needs,” said Albert Cheng, Executive Director of CIC.
Candidates who were granted the first round of subsidy do not need to resubmit and will automatically be eligible for the second round of subsidy of HKD7,500. They will receive the second round of subsidy through the same bank accounts submitted. — Construction+ Online
