Each year, the annual AIA Hong Kong honours and awards programme recognises design excellence in architecture, interior architecture, urban design, unbuilt projects and sustainable design for works completed by AIA member architects in Hong Kong, China and Asia-Pacific. The awards also seeks to increase the awareness of outstanding architecture and to honour AIA member architects, clients and consultants who work together to improve the built environment.
For 2019, seven projects have been selected as winners, which are listed as follows:

AIA Hong Kong Scholastic Awards
AIA Scholastic Awards are granted to the most outstanding graduating students (from the undergraduate degree programmes in architecture at accredited universities in the region). This year’s recipients of Scholastic Award certificates and monetary scholarships are:

AIA Hong Kong Community Citations:
Community Citations and Honorary Affiliate Memberships are awarded to individuals to recognise their distinguished achievements in promoting architecture in society and fostering public awareness of issues related to the built environment. This year’s recipients are:
Light Be, Ricky Yu
For his contribution as a pioneer of social housing with its Light Home programme that converts disused and abandoned buildings into affordable rental homes for low-income families in collaboration with the private sector, as well as with government support.
Design Trust, Marisa Yiu
For her contribution in a not-for-profit initiative supporting creative design projects and research, and advocating for the importance of thoughtful design while actively engaging communities through public events in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.
AIA Hong Kong Honorary Affiliate Membership:
Professor Barry Fegan Will, FHKIA, RAIA, APA, Hon. AIA (HK) (1945-2019) is awarded in recognition of his distinguished leadership and contributions to the architectural profession in the region. — Construction+ Online
