560-metre harbour front promenade within Tamar and the HKCEC open to public

As part of the harbour front enhancement initiative for Wan Chai on a piece of newly reclaimed land, the harbour front promenade that connects Tamar and the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) is open to the public on 21 October 2019, targeted to be completed in early 2021.

The promenade measuring 560 metres long and 6 metres wide provides a panoramic view.

The Hong Kong Design Centre, in collaboration with community designers, has put up interesting installations on display. These features will be renewed periodically, providing areas for the public to rest and appreciate the creativity of young local designers.

To enhance visitors’ experience, the Harbour Office is working with a start-up technology company to introduce augmented reality features along the harbour.

Four sets of public landing steps built along the promenade area are also open to encourage better water-land interface, creating more opportunities to activate the water body at Victoria Harbour in the future.

To provide the public with a more direct and convenient access from Wan Chai to the harbour front, the Civil Engineering and Development Department will carry out the construction of a landscaped deck, connecting the harbour front promenade with the existing elevated walkway network at Harbour Road in Wan Chai.

These developments will further enhance the vibrancy and attractiveness of the harbour front along Central, Admiralty and Wan Chai. ― Construction+ Online
