DuaNoktah Final Year Exhibition 2018

Students of Taylor’s University Bachelor of Interior Architecture (Hons) and Diploma of Interior Design programmes showcased their design works at their final year exhibition, held from 26 to 28 July at The Space, Citta Mall.

The event themed “DUANOKTAH” traces the journey of young Malaysian designers upon reaching the end to a chapter. The Malay words dua and noktah refers to two dots, that signify a continuation from a single point to another. The use of the national language shows that Malaysian designers are ready to embark on the design world with their creativity and input.

Head of Taylor’s Design School Ernesto Carlos gave a speech at the opening ceremony of the exhibition. There was a presentation by Dr Safial Aqbar Zakaria, Interior Architecture, School of Housing, Building and Planning at Universiti Sains Malaysia, on lighting and environment, as well as a watercolour demonstration.

Mounted on display boards, the design works explore and redefine a variety of spaces, such as commercial, education, institutional, community and healthcare. Professional designers, such as Lai Siew Hong of Bluwater Studio, were invited to assess the students’ projects.

About 100 people attended the three-day event, including notable Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID) council members and senior lecturers. Construction+ was the supporting media for this event, and all participants received complimentary Construction+ and FuturArc magazines. — Construction+ Online
